Touching! Read what Igbo woman living in Borno said about the place

Editor’s note : The Boko Haram insurgency in the north east has torn the region apart and once peaceful places have now been people’s nightmare.

One Mrs Chidinma who hails from the south east says she has been in Borno for 30 years and prays for the state to return the peaceful old times.

Mrs Chidinma’s touching story “I’ve lived in Maiduguri for 30years. I love the town because of how peaceful it was before the insurgency.

“But because of the attacks, it has lost some of its peaceful nature. Some many were killed, others were rendered homeless, our business suffered because the borders were closed. The insurgency has dealt with us seriously.

“Notwithstanding we pray to God to restore peace. We feel there is nothing more than God. We pray that God in His infinite mercy rescues us and brings back peace to Borno State. It is a place we love and cherish. My younger ones were Borno here.

“We also beg the Borno State government to come to our aid. Most of our women are widows, some are homeless, our finances are down, we have lots of orphans. “But still, forget the insurgency issue for a minute, we love this place. We love the people. They are have a peaceful nature. Even the late Shehu he was available to us the Igbo community anytime we went to him. “We pray peace returns so we can trust each other again and that we have full confidence in each other like before; you come to my house, I eat in your house and sit down like brothers and sisters as we often do” This opinion first appeared in Bits of Borno
